Swimming in January?

Last Saturday night, we decided we needed a break from the cold inversion. We went to Riverdale which has two geo-thermal pools. It was fun to float on your back in the warm water and watch the wolf moon, big and bright thru the mist caused by the water. It was 5 degrees out of the water and the walk way and rails were iced up. Your hand would stick to the rail as you walk down into the pool. It was fun, you could feel your face getting cold and I found my hair had frozen, so I'd just dip under the water to warm it up. Shelly found the inlet of the hot water and it was hot!! She stayed there most of the time. The one pool was fairly large but only deep enough, if you stayed on your knees, the water was almost to your neck. It was deep enough you could actually swim. The mist was thick enough and with the dark, you could not see the other end of the pool, you could only see about 10 feet. A young family was having fun playing Marco Polo. I made the mistake of walking bare foot from the small pool to the large pool. There was rock salt on the walkway for the ice and I'm a tenderfoot. That was cold on my feet. I think I froze the bottom of them, but they are okay now. A short little vacation from winter, anything above the water got cold but in the water it was nice!!!
